Maja Arčanin, academic painter

Maja Arčanin Maja Arčanin was born in 1946 in Zagreb, where she graduated secondary school in 1965. In 1969, she graduated the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb in the class of prof. Miljenko Stančić. She graduated her M.A. at the same academy at prof. Oton Postružnik’s in 1970. In 1978, she got the grant of the Fund of Fine Art Improvement Moše Pijade. Study trips: Great Britain 1967, USA 1976, France 1978, 1983, 1984, Netherlands 1990, India 1995, Switzerland 1995, 1996, Netherlands 2003.
Since 1995, she exhibits at group exhibitions and is member of the HDLU (Croatian association of fine artists). Her first independent exhibition she realized in Zagreb in 1978, and until now, she is counting 28 single exhibitions. She works at the institute for histology and embryology of the University for Medicine in Zagreb as a medical illustrator for the purposes of study lessons, science, design and visual culture and communication.
She is author of the following projects: “Slikari u medicini 1917-2007 (Artists in the field of medicine); Zarnik Collection 1920/30.; Protection of cultural inheritance at the University of Medicine Zagreb. She is participating in international art manifestations: Jadertina, Zadar / Bruška / Biograd; Akademija-art, Rab; “Otvoreni atelijer”, Karlobag; Latinsko idro, Murter; Kastav,Kastav; Mandrač,Volosko; Lovorka, Uvala Scott / Rijeka.  She participated as a donor with her work of art in many auction exhibitions in campaign of fine artists for the defence and renovation of Croatia at home and abroad. Maja lives and works in Zagreb, the capital of Croatia.
