Lea Dekleva is one of the most famous Croatian singer-song writer names of the past decade. Her musical expression emphasizes the melody of her verses, and her expressive sensitivity with typical Dalmatian elements widens the „musical“ horizon. It is her melodies and her verses reflecting true feelings, carrying away the audience in new “musical” spheres.
Her first album as a singer-song writer, an adult/pop album, is the first Croatian album that can be found on the iTunes download service. Both the critics and the audience appraised her debut album to be a serious and convincing start. That debut album was nominated for the music award Porin for the best female debutant, and for the award “Zlatna Koogla” for the best female entertainer. Even her song NEVERA from the album of the famous Croatian singer Oliver Dragojević was nominated for the award Porin in the category best song of the year. In the late Nineties, she temporarily worked together with the Croatian band “Parni valjak” and the singer Davor Radolfi at their concerts as a back vocal. One of her songs from the concert album of singer Oliver Dragojević (who recently gave a concert in the famous New Yorker Carnegie Hall) was translated into French - SANS TOI.
She is the only female musician who can be found – as author and singer – as a guest on the platinum compilation of the two, probably most famous, names on the Croatian scene – Arsen Dedić and Oliver Dragojević. Lea had also several performances at concerts of Arsen Dedić, wherewith she was part of his debut performance in Bol on the island of Brač. Lea is author and initiator of the Band Aid Song for the Animal Friends Society. Besides her performances at the commemorative “Runjić Evenings”, she performed at the “Evening of Dalmatian Chansons” in Šibenik, at the “Evening of Dalmatian songs” in Kaštela and, of course, at the “Evening of island-inspired sounds – Bodulska balada” on the island Zlarin.
